Long Island in the Whitsundays region is the holiday island. It is the only Whitsunday island where you can have a choice of resorts and it is one of the few where you can choose to stay in a very small five star resort or a great family three star resort. The island lies close to the Australian mainland and the resorts are all located on the inshore side of the island facing a narrow passage of water that is always well protected from prevailing winds. Access is via a ferry service from either Hamilton Island marina, Shute Harbour or the Abel Point marina in Airlie Beach. Helicopter transfers are also available.

Peppers Palm Bay resort is one of the most sought after small resorts in the Whitsundays. It is situated among a grove of coconut palms on the beachfront at the northern end of the island. The accommodation is in separate cabins that line the beachfront so you can sit on your balcony and watch the sun set over the beautiful waterway in front of you. The restaurant is superb and the resort has a reputation for fine food and service. The service is unobtrusive and the facilities are excellent. If you would like to stay in a small resort where there is nothing to stop you from relaxing under a coconut tree with a good book and unaffected by hordes of tourists, then Peppers Palm Bay is the right place for you. At the southern end of the island is an even smaller resort. Paradise Bay Eco escape caters for a maximum of only 16 guests at any given time and provides a luxury experience. Again, small cabins line the beachfront and the chef serves meals that are to die for. The resort also has its own sailing catamaran for the use of guests and evening cruises are a feature of the resort.

In the middle of the island, and also on its own private bay is Long Island resort. This is the largest resort on Long Island and is best described as a three star family resort. Lots of activities keep the kids happy and the kids club gives mum and dad the opportunity to relax as well. Long Island resort has fantastic swimming pools, an excellent beach and plenty of water sports and equipment.
All in all, Long Island can provide a terrific holiday for just about anyone.
