The Hunter region on the central New South Wales coast encompasses the City of Newcastle, Port Stephens and the world famous wine growing region of the Hunter Valley. It is located about an hour and a halfâ€™s drive north of Sydney and is a popular destination for Sydneysiders to visit for a weekend away or a short break. There is a multi lane motorway connecting the two regions and most visitors tend to drive or take the train. The Hunter Valley region extends inland from Newcastle. There are hundreds of fantastic vineyards and dozens of cellar doors just waiting for you to rock up and sample the local produce.
